Josee, the Tiger and the Fish (en)
Josee, the Tiger and the Fish is a Japanese story about a young woman named Josee who uses a wheelchair and has a passion for drawing and marine life. She lives with her grandmother, who is very protective of her. The story begins when Josee meets Tsuneo, a college student working a part-time job, and he accidentally falls into her life after a minor car incident. The plot follows their developing bond as Tsuneo is hired to help care for Josee and takes her on outings, including a trip to see a tiger-striped fish at an aquarium. Readers enjoy the story for its tender, realistic portrayal of two people from very different worlds learning to understand and support each other, the heartfelt romance that grows slowly and naturally, and the way it honestly explores themes of independence, disability, and finding one's own path without melodrama.
