Inu x Boku SS follows Ririchiyo Shirakiin, a wealthy and independent young woman who moves into a luxury apartment building called Maison de Ayakashi, which provides each resident with a supernatural bodyguard known as a Secret Service agent. These agents are actually youkai (spirits or demons) from Japanese folklore. Ririchiyo is assigned Soushi Miketsukami, a devoted and intensely loyal fox spirit who calls her "mistress" and is fiercely protective despite her cold and distant personality. As Ririchiyo struggles with her social anxiety and desire to become more open, she slowly bonds with Soushi and the other eccentric residents.
