Denji is a teenage boy burdened by his father's debt, who survives by hunting Devils with his pet dog Pochita, a Devil with a chainsaw for a nose. After a Devil betrays him, Pochita sacrifices himself to merge with Denji’s heart, allowing Denji to transform into Chainsaw Man—a hybrid with chainsaws sprouting from his head and arms. He is then recruited by a government agency to kill Devils in exchange for a normal life, simple pleasures like eating toast with jam, and the chance to touch a girl’s breasts.
